It stops after a few seconds

The unit starts, runs briefly, then stops before the bag is tight. Work through these in order.

1. Charge it fully first

This is the most common cause by a distance. A partly charged battery will drive the pump for a few seconds and then give up. Put it on charge for a full two hours — the ring on top turns blue when it's done — and try again. Short top-ups between uses are not the same thing. Charging guide →

2. Check the bag is actually closed

If the zip is open anywhere, the pump is trying to empty the room. Press the zip hard along its full length, use the sealing clip, and make sure no food or marinade is sitting in the seal. Full technique guide →

3. Look at the nozzle

A cracked or split rubber nozzle can't hold a seal against the valve. The unit runs, gets nowhere, and stops. Hold the nozzle up to the light and look for a hairline split around the rim. Under 12 months old? We replace it free — don't buy one.

4. Listen to it

A healthy unit sounds consistent for the whole run. If you hear it labouring, changing pitch, or you smell anything hot, stop using it and email us. Don't keep cycling it. That is a fault, not a technique problem, and it is covered by your 12-month replacement warranty.
